Associate Professor of English, Maeera Shreiber, Appointed Director of Religious Studies
I am thrilled to be the newly appointed Director of Religious Studies at the University of Utah. Although we are one of the newest majors in the College of Humanities, we have already attracted a strong cohort of majors. Recognizing that religion is among the most important subjects for those seeking a place in a global society, our students are availing themselves of a rich array of fascinating courses in World Religion, Islamic Thought, Mormonism and Gender, Holocaust and Remembrance and Zen and Eastern Theatre.
We are introducing new courses including a summer one-week intensive course on Religion and the Environment –that will take place at the Taft-Nicholson Center for Environmental Humanities in Centennial Valley, Montana and a three week study abroad course in Israel –. This is just the beginning as we develop more hands–on, experiential internship programs to insure that the Religious Studies major at the U is one of the most vibrant, satisfying and meaningful programs around.
Please feel free to email with any questions or ideas you might have. I’d love to meet you and tell you more about Religious Studies at the U.
